SMU Academy and Straits Interactive Launch New Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems
The program will address data governance issues exacerbated by the pandemic and the shortage of qualified data protection officers
A wide range of course modules will deepen knowledge on the new ASEAN data management framework, managing data protection audits and mobile applications
Singapore, March 25, 2022 – The Singapore Management University (SMU) professional education arm, SMU Academy, and Straits Interactive have announced a new Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems that addresses data governance issues exacerbated by the pandemic and shortage of managers qualified in data protection. The program is expected to start in May 2022.
The goal of this advanced certificate is to help individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) solve the most pressing data challenges in today’s post-pandemic world. The program includes the following modules, which can be taken in any order:
Digital Data Governance Frameworks and Standards
Data protection risks and audit management
Mobile apps: Privacy by Design and Design Thinking
Concepts and principles of records management in today’s digital environment
Implementation of an ISO37301 compliance management system
Implementation of the ISO27701 confidential information management standard
Preparing SMBs for Data Governance Management

Participants who successfully complete the Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems, along with the existing Advanced Certificate in Data Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) will receive an Advanced Diploma in Data Governance and Management by Singapore Management University .
