Commissioners Talk Community Housing and Airport – Darke County Now
GREENVILLE—The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon to discuss improvements to community housing and the Darke County airport. Commissioner Matt Aultman, Mike Stegall and Larry Holmes were present.
Susan Laux, Community Housing Impact & Preservation – Lead Abatement Program Lead, led a public hearing on the program.
The program was created in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Health to award additional funds on a competitive basis to CHIP recipients who use CHIP-LAP funds. Financial assistance provided to CHIP-funded recipients is intended to eliminate the dangers of lead-based paint.
The purpose of the hearing was to let the community know that the program exists. CHIP grant recipients can apply for funding for an X-Ray Fluorescience (XRF) analyzer to identify lead-based paint hazards in CHIP repair and rehabilitation properties. The maximum grant award is $23,000. Grant funds are drawn within six months and spent within 30 days of receipt.
Recipients can also apply for funds for all lead risk control work, such as risk assessment; preparation of lead reduction specifications; moving services; lead reduction site inspections and lead release reports. The maximum grant award is $30,000. The grant period is until April 30, 2024.
Applications for both must be sent via OCEAN by October 12, 2022.
Next, the board approved a 2022 Standard Professional Services Agreement between Darke County Commissioners and Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) for professional engineering, surveying or architectural services relating to the relocation project. from the terminal at Darke County Airport.
The agreement covers phase one contract administration, phase two bid administration and phase three construction administration.
It has been mutually agreed that fees will be charged on a basis not to exceed, for each task authorized, with a maximum of $105,000.
