City council approves $ 1 million for temporary health workers for COVID-19 vaccinations
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regular city council meeting, Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo and city council members authorized a two-year service agreement with Unique Employment I, LTD. , from Corpus Christi, Texas, in an amount not to exceed $ 1 million for temporary staff of COVID-19-related health services for the Corpus Christi County – Nueces Public Health District. Temporary positions will be secured to respond to COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.
The service agreement will provide qualified temporary staff for positions including, but not limited to telephone banking operators, office / data entry clerks, paramedics and medical personnel such as medical assistants , LVNs and registered nurses (RNs).
The service agreement is supported by funding from the COVID-19 Vaccination Capacity Contract Grant with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
“Today city council made an investment to make sure we have the staff we need in our health district. We are building our capacity and planning greater vaccine distributions through our many community outreach programs, ”said Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo.
