Chronosphere launches Query Builder for users to easily and

NEW YORK, November 04, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Chronosphere, provider of the leading observability platform for the native cloud, today launched Query Builder, a way to quickly and easily map Prometheus data with Prometheus query language (PromQL). This capacity is available to all Chronosphere customers.

Prometheus is the open source standard for metrics monitoring. The standard for Prometheus real-time queries and aggregation is PromQL, but it’s a difficult query language for engineers to understand and use. PromQL has specific query structures and syntaxes that users should learn and follow. In addition, users must incorporate variables specific to their organization, such as the name of the metric and dynamic filters based on the values of the labels.

With so many types and variations of metrics possible, learning PromQL has become a burden for many engineers. Query Builder helps alleviate this burden, allowing engineers to spend less time building and solving their PromQL queries and more time driving high-value work for their teams.

“We have experienced firsthand the steep learning curve of PromQL for engineers new to the open source standard, and our customers have also shared that pain with us. We solve this problem with our new PromQL query building experience which both removes the high barrier to entry for new users while helping existing users better understand and optimize their queries, ”said Martin Mao, co -Founder and CEO of Chronosphere.

Prometheus Co-Founder and PromQL Creator Julius Volz worked closely with Chronosphere on the new capability and said, “Chronosphere is dedicated to empowering Prometheus users, which is why I decided to partner with them on Query Builder. This enhancement allows users to more efficiently create queries for dashboards and alert rules, avoiding the frustration of learning and working with PromQL. “
