A Jeevandhara-Shravan vehicle was reported today by Minister of Health and Family Welfare Rajiv Saizal of the Secretariat. The vehicle will provide early detection and screening for people across the state for hearing problems.

The health minister said the vehicle had been fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and two technicians and a data entry operator had also been made available on board.

He said the vehicle would be sent to various health blocks and hospitals where patients with hearing problems would be examined and referred to appropriate institutions for hearing aid operation and treatment.

He said that the high-tech equipment installed in this vehicle would also help with the implantation of hearing aids in the elderly and the installation of cochlear implants in children.

The minister said that under the Mukhya Mantri Nirog Yojana, there is a provision for the annual ear examination of people over 18 years of age.
